Montgomery AL – The Department of Veterans Affairs medical center in Montgomery is slated for upgrades. The State Department of Veterans Affairs has announced plans to modernize that facility so it can continue offering inpatient services at the hospital. The decision follows a review by VA officials of recommendations on whether the Montgomery center should continue inpatient services. Although the campus had not been threatened with closure, other facilities across the country have seen their services reduced. The Montgomery center is one of a handful that will be improved. The center already has funds in place for a podiatry clinic and a new magnetic resonance imaging facility as part of a joint venture with Maxwell Air Force Base.
