Undated, AL – Precinct volunteers aren't expecting to see too many people for Tuesday's primary runoff elections. Turnout may not even make 10-to-15 percent. Election officials are predicting a low turnout because there's no governor's race on the ballot and because Alabama voters aren't used to having a runoff in July. The Legislature delayed this year's runoff from late June to mid-July to allow time for Alabama's military members serving in Iraq and Afghanistan to cast absentee ballots. But polling places will be open from 7 a-m to 7 p-m. The Republican ballot has runoffs for five statewide offices: lieutenant governor, auditor, Public Service Commission, criminal appeals court and civil appeals court. The Democratic runoff ballot doesn't have any statewide races.
