Birmingham Water Customers Asked to Cut Back

By Alabama Public Radio

Birmingham, AL – The Birmingham Water Works Board has decided to move to Stage Two of its drought plan. That includes implementing a strict schedule of outdoor water use. Residents are being asked to water their plants only between 10 p-m and 10 a-m. That's when evaporation is at its lowest. Odd-numbered addresses can water on Tuesdays and Fridays, while even-numbers have Mondays and Thursdays. The Birmingham Water Works uses four water sources, but most of the city's water comes from Lake Purdy and Inland Lake in Blount County.
