By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Bill Johnson is switching roles. He has left his job as head of the state Department of Community and Economic Affairs. He's becoming the grass-roots coordinator for Governor Bob Riley's re-election campaign. Campaign spokesman Josh Blades says Johnson ran Riley's grass-roots efforts four years ago. He has served as a Birmingham City Council member, and he became ADECA director in May 2005. Johnson is officially on unpaid leave until November 16th. Doni Ingram is now acting director of ADECA.
