Bayou La Batre, AL – The Bayou La Batre City Council held a special meeting Wednesday and told a contractor to resume salvaging boats that were grounded by Hurricane Katrina. Strategic Salvage Solutions didn't work Wednesday or Tuesday because of confusion about whether it had purchased a one-point-four million dollar bond required by the contract. The city says the company acquired the bond Tuesday morning, and its effective date was July 14th. But the council ordered the contractor to stop work Monday after a city attorney said she had not received the paperwork.
