Montgomery AL – Authorities are investigating the theft of 18 laptop computers from the Farm Service Agency in Montgomery. Fortunately, the computers do not appear to contain any sensitive financial information. The U-S Department of Agriculture issued a news release that said interviews with agency employees determined sensitive financial information from Alabama farmers was not compromised. The laptops were also password protected. The Farmer Service Agency offers various farm commodity, conservation and emergency assistance programs for farmers. Agency officials say the computers were stolen Monday night from their office on Carmichael Road. The F-B-I and Montgomery police are investigating the incident.
