Trial Date Set For Woman Accused of Starving Children

By Alabama Public Radio

Huntsville AL – A Huntsville woman accused of starving her three children to death will stand trial on February 2nd next year. The trial date was set yesterday by a Madison County circuit judge. Natashay Yvonne Ward was charged with capital murder after the bodies of her 8-year, 9-year and 11-year old children were discovered February 4th of 2005 in their southwest Huntsville apartment. The apartment's utilities had been turned off for about a month. Her attorney hope to move the trial out of Madison County, saying media coverage has tainted the jury pool. Ward has pleaded not guilty because of mental disease or defect. If convicted, she faces life in prison without parole or execution.
