Gulf Shores, AL – Commercial airlines soon could fly into Jack Edwards Airport in Gulf Shores. The airport now provides service for private air travel only. But a new report considers the city's aviation needs during the next two decades, and it includes expanding the airport. The first stage of the proposal includes a 32-thousand-square-foot commuter terminal that could accommodate commercial flights. According to the report, about 80-thousand flights were recorded at the airport last year. By 2025, that number could double.
