Work on Tire Dump Should Begin Soon

By Alabama Public Radio

Attalla, AL – Workers could begin moving tons of scrap tires from Alabama's largest tire dump later this month. It's in Attalla, and state Environmental Management officials have awarded the first contract under the state's Scrap Tire Environmental Quality Act. The seven-point-one million dollar contract is going to C.W. Owens Enterprises of Southside and Ohatchee. The company will remove at least eight million tires and tire parts from the former Four Star Wholesale and Tire Brokerage site near downtown Attalla.
