Second South Alabamian Treated for West Nile

By Alabama Public Radio

Mobile, AL – A man from Prichard is being treated for West Nile virus. Health officials say the man is recovering at home. It's the second human case of West Nile in Mobile County this year. Last month, a man from Saraland was diagnosed with it. He has since been released from the hospital. The virus is carried by mosquitos and can cause inflammation of the brain. It can be fatal, but most people do not become ill. Others develop mild symptoms that include fever, headaches, body aches and fatigue.
