Undated, AL – Alabama farmers can now call a new hotline if they need help accessing federal drought assistance. State Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks says some farmers and ranchers have been placed in dire financial circumstances because of the long-lasting heat and dry weather. He says the new hotline will help them by providing assistance with their insurance claims for 2005 and 2006 production losses. Those who use the hotline should be ready to provide their name, address and phone number. An Agriculture official will then call back with assistance. The toll-free hotline number is 800-951-1275.
