Senator Loses, Asks Democrats to Disqualify Opponent

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – State Senator Gerald Dial lost his reelection bid. Now he's asking the Alabama Democratic Party to disqualify the woman who beat him in the Democratic primary. Dial says Kim Benefield, who beat him in the Democratic primary, didn't report all of her expenditures on her campaign finance report. Benefield says she did report everything correctly and is calling Dial's request a case of sour grapes. Dial sent a letter to the Democratic Party, and spokesman Zac McCrary says party lawyers are reviewing it.
