HealthSouth Considers Selling Businesses

By Alabama Public Radio

Birmingham, AL – HealthSouth is considering selling or spinning off its surgical, outpatient and diagnostic businesses to reduce the company's debt. HealthSouth is one of the country's largest medical services chains, and it is reporting a loss of 51-point-7 million dollars, or 13 cents per share. The HealthSouth report is only the second earnings statement released since the company was implicated in a nearly three billion dollar accounting fraud in 2003.
