Hispanic Population Has Increased

Undated, AL – Alabama's Hispanic population has grown 36 percent during the last five years. U-S Census figures show more than 99-thousand Hispanics live in the state. That's a 36-point-4 percent increase from 2000, and they now account for 2-point-2 percent of the state's population. Whites make up 69-point-6 percent of the state's population, while blacks make up 25-point-8 percent. The new study also shows that every state but one - West Virginia - experienced minority population increases.
