Dothan, AL – Residents of southeastern Alabama are at the center an exercise this week testing officials' ability to respond to a major nuclear accident. The National Nuclear Security Administration is handling the exercise. Monday's scenario was based on a truck carrying radioactive material colliding with a car in rural southeast Alabama. The simulated collision caused an explosion that released cancer-causing material. Authorities ordered mock evacuations, arranged emergency medical care for people who may have been severely contaminated and monitored the spread of the radioactive cloud.
