Undated, AL – The Alabama Farmers Federation says shoppers are paying slightly less for groceries this month. The group says overall prices have dropped seven-tenths of one percent. The average cost statewide of a basic market basket of 20 food items is 43-dollars, 23 cents. That's down 29 cents from July. A U-S Agriculture official says the lower prices reflect an oversupply of poultry and pork. Despite the overall drop, beef prices are mixed while prices for tomatoes and red and sweet potatoes have gone up.
