Mobile, AL – Hunters killed 13 alligators over the weekend in Alabama's first regulated alligator hunt. The weeklong hunt began Friday night with 50 hunters who were chosen randomly from 991 applicants. State Conservation wildlife biologist Chuck Sharp says it was a safe hunt and no hunters were injured. One boat had some punctures from a gator bite, but it didn't sink, he said. Each permit holder is allowed to take one alligator, which must be tagged through the tail.
