Flomaton, AL – Alabama Highway 113 is a major hurricane evacuation route for south Alabama and the Florida panhandle. The highway will be widened to four lanes from Flomaton to Interstate 65. Under a funding agreement, Alabama will pay 20 million dollars, the town of Flomaton will commit one million and Escambia County, Florida, will commit four million dollars. Alabama will take responsibility for any cost overruns. The project will stretch 14 miles, and construction is expected to begin in the early spring.
