Tornadoes Confirmed in Weekend Weather

By Associated Press

Undated, AL – At least four tornadoes touched down in Blount and Marshall counties Friday evening, that's according to storm survey assessments issued by National Weather Service offices in Birmingham and Huntsville. Three F-Two tornadoes passed through Blount County and an F-One twister touched down near Albertville. The twisters caused minor injuries and heavy damage in the Oneonta and Locust Fork communities. No deaths were reported, but police said a man was trapped for nearly three hours when his car was crushed by a tree in Oneonta. Hundreds of trees were downed across Oneonta and damaged structures included the high school's football stadium, a gas station and an undetermined number of houses. In Marshall County, a twister damaged several homes and uprooted trees. Massive storms that hit parts of Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee on Friday and Saturday are blamed for killing at least 12 people.
