Army Released Name of Contractor Killed in Iraq

By Associated Press

Huntsville, AL – The Army has released the name of a Huntsville-based contractor killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq. 46-year-old Gerald Lambert of Brooksville, Florida, died yesterday when the vehicle he was riding in was struck by an improvised explosive device or I-E-D. Lambert was a security consultant for Menden, Nevada-based Security Management. The Army said two other contractors also were wounded in Wednesday's incident. Their names were withheld. At least 32 contractors working for the U-S Army Corps of Engineer's Coalition Munitions Clearance Program have been killed in Iraq since September 2003. According to a press statement, contractors have destroyed more than 400-thousand tons of ammunition in Iraq.
