Soldier Will Be Buried Today

Prattville, AL – Hundreds of mourners will pay their respects today (Friday) to an Alabama paratrooper killed in Iraq. Funeral services for Army Private First Class Stephen Bicknell begin at 1 p-m at First United Methodist Church in downtown Prattville. The Army said Bicknell and another soldier were killed October 15th when the Humvee they were riding in struck a land mine in Samarra, Iraq. Bicknell, who was 19, was assigned to the Second Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Third Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Bicknell is survived by his wife and parents. He will be buried at Prattville Memory Gardens with full military honors.
