Gulf Shores, AL – A judge has ordered the sale of a Gulf Shores beach house that was at the center of the federal corruption case against former Orange Beach Mayor Steve Russo and two others. The price could be in the millions. The house has eight bedrooms and the same number of bathrooms. It sits on a stretch of beach road amid other beachfront mansions. But testimony during Russo's trial showed that the former mayor got a share of the big house in exchange for giving a developer preferential treatment. Even though he's convicted and set for sentencing early next year, Russo still owns a one-third share of the property. Money from the sale of the house will be placed in an escrow account until all the appeals in the case are settled.
