Decatur Bans Headwear at Games

By Associated Press

Decatur, AL – Decatur's school board approved a ban on hats at Austin and Decatur high school basketball games this season. The order approved Tuesday bans baseball caps, toboggans, bandanas and any other headgear as a part of new game procedures for the 2006-07 season. The ban was recommended by a panel of administrators and basketball coaches. Superintendent Sam Houston says the panel discussed banning gang-related headwear, but decided in the interest of fairness to ban all headwear.
