Birmingham, AL – The National Weather Service confirms that eight tornadoes struck seven different counties in Alabama on Wednesday. A survey by the weather service found one twister hit southeast Pike County and moved into western Barbour County. There were two in Montgomery County, two in Elmore County, and one each in Lowdnes, Tallapoosa and Chambers counties. In Montgomery County, the tornado track was about six miles long and 250 yards wide at its widest point, which was near Pintlala. The one that hit the city of Montgomery's eastside and the Fun Zone Skating Rink caused significant property damage, but no major injuries.
