Corporation Plans New Jobs in Birmingham

By Associated Press

Birmingham, AL – Infinity Property and Casualty Corp. plans to consolidate its four U-S call centers into one national operations center in Birmingham. It's a move that will create 500 jobs in the city. The Birmingham-based auto insurer announced Tuesday that the center will be located at the former Vesta Insurance Group headquarters building in Liberty Park. The building is within five miles of Infinity's headquarters. Infinity operates call centers in Birmingham, Cerritos, California, Alpharetta, Georgia, and Irving, Texas. Infinity CEO Jim Gober says the company is encouraging employees to transfer to Birmingham with the consolidation and expects many will transfer. There will be 600 jobs at the operations center. Five hundred of those jobs will be new to Birmingham.
