Washington, DC – Alabama Congressman Bud Cramer has won a seat on the powerful House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense. The Huntsville Democrat said the panel determines funding levels for the military and its programs, including Redstone Arsenal. The assignment comes as the Democrats take control of Congress for the first time in a dozen years. Cramer already serves on the House Appropriations panel -- one of four committees responsible for providing funds for all areas of the federal government. House Democrats have outlined an ambitious legislative agenda. It includes a ban on gifts from lobbyists, and a hike in the minimum wage.
