Alabama Soldiers Mobilize for Overseas Duty

By Associated Press

Baton Rouge, LA – Fifty members of the U-S Army Reserve's 1190th Deployment Support Brigade, based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, will gather Friday to mobilize for duty in Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan and the Netherlands. The soldiers will leave for Camp Shelby in Mississippi for five to six weeks of training before being sent overseas. Although the exact length of this deployment is uncertain, officials say they expect it to last about a year. 1190th Deployment Support Brigade primarily is made up of soldiers from Louisiana, but also includes soldiers from Alabama, Texas and New Mexico. The brigade's duty is to track cargo and equipment as it is moved around the world to different areas.
