Jobless Rate Rose Slightly Last Month

By Associated Press

Montgomery, AL – Alabama's unemployment rate rose to three-point-six percent in December. That was up from the record low three-point-two percent unemployment in October and November. State Industrial Relations Director Phyllis Kennedy says Alabama's rate remains below the comparable national figure of four-point-five percent. For December, the lowest unemployment rates were Shelby County at two-point-one percent, Baldwin County at two-point-three percent, and Madison County at two-point-four percent. The highest rates were Bullock County at eight-point-four percent, Wilcox County at seven-point-nine percent and Perry County at seven-point-four percent.
