ACHE Recommends Bigger Budget

By Associated Press

Montgomery, AL – The Alabama Commission on Higher Education has recommended a higher education budget totaling nearly two (b) billion dollars. ACHE spokeswoman Margaret Gunter says the commission's coordinating board unanimously voted to ask lawmakers for a 15 percent unified budget recommendation increase over last year's appropriation. The commission also agreed to support a one (b) billion dollar bond issue and agreed to support a 60 percent-40 percent split of a bond issue for K-12 and higher education respectively.
