Mobile, AL – A new center in Mobile is expected to work at expanding minority business ventures in Alabama and portions of two other states. It will also help minority-owned firms connect with federal agencies to win contracts. The Alabama Minority Business Enterprise Center is now open for business. Agency Director Leon Grove tells Alabama Public Radio's Chris Newbold the center will give minority-owned enterprises the technical assistance needed to compete in the global marketplace.

The Alabama minority business enterprise center in mobile must meet escalating benchmarks annually to receive its federal funding. It is a joint partnership between the U-S Chamber of Commerce and the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce. It's one of 40 centers nationwide.
