Montgomery, AL – The chairman of the Legislature's contract review committee has warned state agencies not to bypass his panel by arranging contracts through four-year colleges and universities.
In a memorandum that department heads received Monday, Representative Neal Morrison, a Democrat from Cullman, requested the state agencies "cease this practice immediately."
The Huntsville Times reported Sunday that the state Medicaid agency hired a part-time lobbyist whose contract with a private Montgomery company was arranged by an Auburn University Montgomery program through the state Finance Department.
The Times said Morrison's committee never saw the contract.
