Montgomery, AL – Thomas Corts resigned as Interim Chancellor of the state's two-year college system today, nearly a week after members of the Alabama Board of Education expressed concerns about his leadership.
Governor Bob Riley appointed Corts, formerly president of Samford University, to lead the beleaguered system in July.
Some school board members and two-year college officials were critical of his call for a second board to oversee the system and his handling of an investigation into alleged financial abuses at certain campuses.
Corts said in his resignation letter that his departure was effective today.
