By Associated Press

Selma, AL – Officials will close U-S- Highway 80 from State Highway 41 and across the Edmund Pettus Bridge to State Highway 14 on the north side of Selma at eight a-m- Sunday.

Department of Transportation spokesman Tony Harris says the closing is part of activities commemorating the 1965 Selma-to-Montgomery march.

Traffic will be detoured using the Highway 41/14 truck route. The detour route will be signed, and transportation and law enforcement personnel will help direct traffic.

U-S- 80 is scheduled to open at five p-m Sunday.
