Millers Ferry, AL – The tornado that struck Millers Ferry on March first was upgraded to an E-F-Four.
In a statement Monday, meteorologists at the National Weather Service Office in Mobile said the redesignation means the twister's wind speed likely exceeded 185 miles-per-hour.
The change was based on the destruction of at least two wood frame houses. The tornado destroyed or damaged around 40 homes. One person was killed and two others were injured.
Millers Ferry is located in Wilcox County.
