Selma AL – Events commemorating the Battle of Selma will be held April 12th-15th, including a re-enactment of the battle on the 15th. Organizers say they are expecting one of the biggest turnouts ever for the 20th anniversary of the event, which is sponsored by the Battle of Selma Authority and hosted by the 33rd Alabama Infantry Regiment. The living history camp opens April 12th at 9 am. On the 13th, an artilery display begins at 7 pm, followed by a camp dance. Both events are open to the public. On Saturday, a re-enactment will focus on a skirmish that occured on April 1, 1865. On the 14th, the Battle of Selma Grand Military Ball will be held at Sturdivant Hall. On April 15, a Civil War memorial service will be held at Old Live Oak Cemetery at 10:30 am.
