Eufaula Guard Unit Activated Again

Eufaula, AL – A National Guard unit from Eufaula in being activated for the second time to support the war in Iraq.

The Alabama National Guard announced today that about 75 members of the 1103rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion will go on active duty May fifth. They will train at Fort Hood, Texas, and then be deployed overseas at a location that is classified.

The unit was also deployed for the war on terrorism from October 2002 until late 2003.

The new activation means more than 12-thousand Army and Air National Guard members from Alabama have been activated since the terrorist attacks in 2001.
