Tuscaloosa AL – Governor Bob Riley and the state Legislature appear to support a 3.5% raise for state workers and a 7% raise for education workers. A bill has been introduced in both the House and Senate that would give state workers the raise, as well as an identical raise next year. Governor Riley also says he supports a raise for education employees, though that raise has not yet been officially proposed. It is being pushed by the Alabama Education Association.
