Alabama Soldier Being Remembered

By Associated Press

Huntsville, AL – Adam Loggins' father remembers his son as a fun-loving young man who was serious about serving his country as a U-S Marine.

The 27-year-old Marine Lance Corporal, son of Huntsville Fire Chief, Danny Loggins, was killed in action one week ago today in Iraq's Anbar province. His funeral will be held today (Thursday) in Huntsville.

Loggins joined the Marines in January 2006 and was assigned in June to the 3rd Battalion, 6th Regiment, 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. His company deployed to Iraq January 18th.

In his first public comments, Danny Loggins said his son was motivated to join the Marines after the terrorist attacks in September 2001 determined to do his part for the country.

The funeral is set for 10 a-m at Mayfair Church of Christ with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.
