Montgomery, AL – The Alabama House has voted to spend up to seven point five million dollars to repair leaks and do other maintenance on the state judicial building.
Consultants have estimated it would take six point three million dollars just to fix leaks in the downtown Montgomery building. Buckets are often deployed to catch water after it rains.
Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb had sought the consultant's study after she discovered the problems to the building. Many of the leaks are in the steps and plaza leading up to the 14-year-old building.
The House voted 102 to nothing to pass a bill to refinance bonds to pay for repairing the leaks to the Heflin-Torbert Judicial Building. The bill now goes to the Senate for debate.
