Tuscaloosa, AL – University of Alabama administrators will ask trustees Friday to raise tuition for the coming academic year by eight percent for all students and more for law school students, a move expected to add ten-point-seven (m) million dollars to university coffers.
University spokeswoman Cathy Andreen said the increase would allow the school to build its infrastrucure and attract necessary resources.
An undergraduate student from Alabama would pay 57-hundred dollars, up 211 dollars, for two semesters with a full-time course load. Students from outside the state would pay 16-thousand-518 dollars, up 612 dollars.
The university will get almost 16 percent more, or 26-point-8 (m) million dollars, from the state education trust fund in the next fiscal year that begins October first.
The school's allotment has increased 56 percent in the past four years from 126 (m) million dollars to the 197 million approved a week ago.
