Man Arrested for Threatening TV News Workers

By Alabama Public Radio

Tuscaloosa AL – 38-year-old Daniel Leonard of Mobile was arrested following a joint city police and FBI investigation into threatening e-mails sent to a Mobile TV station. Police say Leonard faces charges of making terrorist threats, which is a Class C felony that could bring up to 10 years in prison. Police spokesman Officer Eric Gallichant says Leonard is accused of making threats to harm members of the WPMI-NBC15 studios. Authorites began investigating earlier this month after the station received numerous threatening e-mails saying the sender intended to harm employees. Police say Leonard is not directly affiliated with WPMI, but "does have an acquaintance and knows one other employee who is a member of NBC 15."
