Opelika, AL – One-hundred and seventy soldiers assigned to Opelika-based 206th Transportation Company are preparing for deployment to Iraq.
A farewell ceremony was held Wednesday at Opelika High School.
This is the unit's first tour of Iraq and soldiers will be bused to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, today for additional training.
City leaders proclaimed Wednesday as ''206th Day in Opelika.''
