Alabama Soldier Killed in Iraq

Phil Campbell, AL – An Army sergeant from Phil Campbell was killed when Iraqi insurgents attacked his unit over the weekend.

The Department of Defense, in a statement, said that Sgt. William E- Brown died Saturday in Taji of wounds from indirect fire. He was 25.

No other information was immediately available about the attack.

Brown was serving with 2nd Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, based at Fort Carson, Colorado.
