Florence, AL – There's word of a major new industry headed to Florence. Development officials have scheduled a news conference for Wednesday to make what they call a ''major announcement'' for the Shoals.
Officials with the Shoals Economic Development Authority won't publicly disclose details.
But a Florence newspaper, the TimesDaily, says a company plans to build railroad cars at a large plant in Colbert County near Tuscumbia.
The paper says the plant will employ at least 15-hundred people.
Governor Bob Riley is expected to be among the officials who will be on hand for the announcement Wednesday.
