Russellville AR – Boyd Duckett of Demopolis, Ala., won the $250,000 first prize in the Bassmaster Legends tournament Sunday with a two-day catch of 10 fish weighing 30 pounds, 1 ounce.
That gave Duckett a 12-ounce margin over second-place finisher Jason Quinn of Lake Wylie, S.C., who boated 10 bass weighing 29 pounds, 5 ounces on Saturday and Sunday.
The final day of fishing on Lake Dardanelle a navigation pool on the Arkansas River featured just six anglers out of the 50 who started competition on Thursday. After two days of fishing, the field was narrowed to 12 competitors who fished on Saturday, and the top six from that dozen competed in the finals.
The two-day catch totals for the remaining four anglers who fished Sunday: Kevin VanDam, Kalamazoo, Mich., third, 28 pounds, 8 ounces; Dean Rojas, Grand Saline, Texas, fourth, 26 pounds, 3 ounces; Ishama Monroe, Hughson, Calif., fifth, 23 pounds even; and Timmy Horton, Muscle Shoals, Ala., 16 pounds, 11 ounces.
