Birmingham, AL – Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney's campaign filed qualifying papers today for Alabama's presidential primary.
Romney's Alabama chairman, State Treasurer Kay Ivey, delivered the papers to the headquarters of the Alabama Republican Party in Birmingham. A party official says Romney is the first candidate to sign up for the Republican presidential primary on February 5.
Ivey says Romney is preparing for the Alabama primary by building a strong grassroots organization throughout the state.
