Birmingham, AL – Alabama's largest city gets new leadership Tuesday when Mayor-Elect Larry Langford takes the oath of office at 12 noon. Langford, a former Jefferson County Commissioner, beat out nine opponents in last month's mayoral race. He replaces Bernard Kincaid, who was seeking a third term in office.
Langford has outlined several ambitious proposals that includes reorganizing city government, attracting new business and building a new convention complex in the downtown area.
