Birmingham, AL – Sen. Barack Obama's wife will attend a private fundraising luncheon Monday in Birmingham.
The political director for Obama's Alabama campaign, Jerome Gray, confirmed the visit by Michelle Obama.
Her husband was in Birmingham on Jan. 27 before winning Alabama's Democratic presidential primary on Feb. 5. But this is his wife's first campaign appearance in the state.
Invitations for the event say it will start at noon at the home of Hillery Head and Giles Perkins, who is a former executive director of the Alabama Democratic Party. The minimum donation is $1,000 per person, with the money going to the Obama Victory Fund.
