DeKalb County Fiddlers Convention Turns 100

Fort Payne, AL – The 100-year anniversary of the DeKalb County Fiddlers' Convention kicks off Friday night.

Contestants will be competing during the weekend for $6,900 in prize money and trophies in 13 categories.

The kickoff at Fort Payne Middle School includes a special concert and fiddle workshop by Grand Ole Opry member Mike Snider. Big Wills Art Council Director Russell Gulley said special categories for old-time string band and grand champion fiddler have been added to encourage senior fiddlers to return.

All proceeds will benefit the Fort Payne City Schools Arts in Education Program.
