Montgomery, AL – The top Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives has promised to assign state Rep. Jay Love to the House Agriculture and Armed Services committees if Love is elected to Congress.
A Republican, Love faces the Democratic Party nominee, Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright, in the Nov. 4 general election for the 2nd District seat in Congress. Love has said he wants to serve on the Agriculture and Armed Services committees because the district is home to two military bases and has strong ties to farming.
House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio says he will work to insure that Love is appointed to both committees.
Bright has also said he hopes to serve on those two committees.
